What is the purpose of life if it is based on contradictions?

For the most part of my life I have observed all that is around me, the universe, nature, humans, etc. For the most part I have reached to the conclusion that life revolves around contradiction. For example, without hatred there cannot be love; likewise without darkness there cannot be light. Religion wise without hell there cannot be heaven; without God there cannot be Satan. If life is a literal metaphor of the term contradiction, then what is the purpose of us humans? Are we simply here because we are meant to be or is there any other meanings?
